I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have recently relocated to Asheville from Vermont, where I was in private practice for 16 years. In my work with clients I use a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, family systems, dream work, and creative modalities, such as Sandtray Worldplay.

Cognitive Behavioral therapy can involve shifting of unrealistic or negative thinking, improved problem solving skills, improved communication skills, stress management, meditation and relaxation training.

The goal of the psychodynamic psychotherapy is lasting psychological change, brought about through increased insight. These changes include:
  • Becoming more able to feel, identify and express emotions.
  • Being able to make connections, (for example between feelings and behavior or between past and present experiences) and gain a greater understanding of your behavior.
  • Learning about alternative ways to process and express emotions.
  • Re-evaluating your perceptions of yourself and your past experiences, this often leads to becoming more self-accepting.
I have experience in working with:
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Addictions
  • Relationship Issues (communication, prenuptial counseling, sexuality, affair recovery, healing through divorce, blended family co-parenting)
  • Stress Reduction and Healthy Lifestyle Shifts
  • Grief and Loss (Illness, death, changes in job, home, relationships)
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Sexual/Gender Identity Issues
  • Workplace and School Problems
  • Career Concerns
  • Spirituality from the client’s perspective
My clients tell me I'm down to earth and intuitive about how to help them. Feel free to call me to consult about the changes you want to make in your life.

I can accept Medicaid and some other insurances. Sliding scale available for out of pocket payments.
